Honeyfolk clothing is entirely handcrafted by me, Heidi, in my studio surrounded by second-growth Redwoods in Western Sonoma County, California.

I design, draft, dye, cut, sew, press, and package each piece by hand. My operation is very small, and quantities are limited to what I can produce. The bulk of my time is spent designing, sourcing, growing, & gathering materials, cutting, sewing, dyeing, finishing & pressing each piece, emails, managing the website, & social media account. As I cut each piece by hand in my studio, waste is minimal. I only use high quality, natural materials, and even the smallest remnants are worth saving. While cutting pieces for the collection, all smaller off-cuts are set aside and re-used in various projects that require small pieces, like quilts & wall hangings. I even compost the smallest scraps.

I also devote time to various forms of textile arts, primarily knitting and natural dyeing with plants and flowers I hand gather or cultivate. The botanical extracts sustainably & ethically sourced. Depending on the season, I offer hand-knit sweaters & accessories. Each sweater can take up to a month to knit. I generally work in a simple plain stitch to truly emphasize the beautiful natural textures of the fibers. All the yarn I use is from a local shepherdess and spun at Yolo Wool Mill. The natural palette of plant dyes is vast, beautiful & the process is a sort of magick that I find unpredictable & heart healing.

Honeyfolk is available directly via my online shop or at my studio during events. I do not wholesale my line, as I try to keep the price point as accessible as possible. I also do not follow the fashion calendar. Throughout the year, I often release smaller collections of a few items or one of a kind pieces. Each collection is a continuation of the last, and some pieces remain available for years, updated throughout the seasons with new fabrics and colors.

Honeyfolk continues to evolve with me. Refining my aesthetic, artistic process & philosophy is a continuous journey. I am always looking to improve my work, & offer the most carefully crafted, items that will be cherished and worn for many years.

Honeyfolk was founded in 2010 after helping create several garments for Rebecca Burgess, the founder of the Fibershed. I had the pleasure of writing the knitting patterns for Rebecca’s dye book ‘Harvesting Color’. I am a founding member of the Fibershed. Its philosophy has always been an influence on my aesthetic, my brand ethic. I am always looking to improve my work, and offer thoughtful, beautifully crafted items that will be cherished and worn for many years.

Love love,
